In 2000 Tauono and Sonja opened their home to the world. Visitors are invited to make their home
away from home at Tauono's. Our hospitality, produce, food and services continue to be offered in
a spirit of Kia Orana and Kia Manuia!
You will find our garden and domain free of pesticides, herbicides and chemicals. Our organic
produce is offered at our in-house market, or straight from the garden and plantation.
You can taste our lunches on Wednesday's, create your own meals while "Cooking Local with
Sonja" and take home "Sonja's Kitchen" (cookbook) as a souvenir for what we hope is a
memorable experience on Aitutaki. Enjoy our daily Afternoon Tea and choose from fruit platters,
snacks, cakes, smoothies and a host of home made refreshments.
You are free to wander through the garden. Sonja will help select your produce and herbs straight out of the garden or assemble a great dinner with take out items from our kitchen, plus homemade jams,
breads and snacks from our market table. Simple recipes for your island stay are shared free of
charge - just ask Sonja.
We look forward to your visit weekdays, from 10:00am to 5:00pm.
The largest assortment of organic fruits and veggies on Aitutaki - (samples given when available) - homemade bread, coconut cake, jams and jellies, breadfruit lasagna, fresh coconut cream & grated coconut, banana figs, coconut chips, dried chillies, dried herbs, and more.
